This fall has been a season of transition in my life, and I have remained mostly quiet in writing as I have been navigating what is next in my life. With the holidays approaching, I feel the Holy Spirit nudging me to share what He is placing on my heart. If you know me, you know that I love Christmas. Yes, I will post about sappy Hallmark movies, and how all is well that ends well. At times, my Christmas cheer can annoy other people and they mistakenly think I am living with a Pollyanna mentality. I’m not. I just love Christmas.
Christmas often brings with it a sense of sadness and loneliness for many people. Why I love Christmas is because of the true reason for the holidays. God sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. He didn’t come with any fanfare and hoopla. His birth was not amongst the grandeur of kings in Middle Eastern palaces. No, Jesus was born to poor Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem in a place where the animals were kept and swaddled in burial clothes. It was not Christmas magic, per say, as we like to see in movies and with Santa. But, something far greater than the magic of the season. Heaven came down to earth. A miracle. Miraculous far surpasses magic.
No matter what we are encountering during this holiday season, we can carry with us the amazement, the wonder, the delight, the peace, and the grace of the Christmas season. As God leads, we will dive into these concepts together and discover ways to truly experience the wonder and the miraculous of Christmas.
“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts.” — Colossians 3:15
